What you mention is rather critical - the larger social forces at play that, directly or indirectly influence our sense of self.

It's astounding to me that we aren't talking about this more openly and that we remain so distracted.. We're seeing a revolving door of politicians assume the top spots of power, all the while the complexes that pervade the world continue to spin at no change of a pace. Beyond just politics and class systems, our education systems and economic frameworks are all being influenced by these external social forces, whether we're talking about liberalism or credit bubbles.

I'm convinced that technology is going to allow the escape that everyone finds solace in - to simply digitize your own existence. Personally, I don't think it's a good thing but I can see how some would argue otherwise.

Our tools will become our gods..
