Something I'm prompted to ask because, of late, a cousin of mine has tricked me into re-reading the New Testament - been a while since my last perusal.

Why is it that we associate the end with destruction? Is entropy weaved into our reality in such a way? As you say, "those looking to the long term just have to wait for it do self destruct." I get that there's likely contraction after expansion and eventual implosion after explosion but the irrational and rebellious part of my mind wants to chisel out a different option..

I by no means identify with one particular religious school of thinking but it seems a Western concept - a finite ending. Science seems to embrace this idea - everything must dissolve eventually. But if we look closer, we see that things restart, reshape, resurrect.

Is it fair to say that those looking to the longer than long term just have ti wait for it to be rebirthed? For a new patch of skin, healthy and revitalized?

I've resorted to jibberish without logic it seems but it's a fun circle to run around in nonetheless.. thanks again!
